‘Britain’s Got Talent’ review: Kathleen Jenkins, Craig Ball, Bespoke Candi, and more in audition show #3
“Britain’s Got Talent” is back with its third audition show this weekend, and as always, there’s a little bit of pressure on the series to give us someone we find at least reasonably compelling in 2016. We’ve seen such a huge variety of acts over the years that the challenge is so much harder than it once was.
Luckily, we have a feeling that a few worthy acts are going to show up over the course of the night. We’ll have some updates along the way, so be sure to refresh this article often!
Ruby Murry – We’ve grown accustomed to think that anyone in drag is going to either camp fun, or really terrible. Ruby is a fantastic singer! We’re not entirely sure why this needs to be a drag act since it really didn’t add any character to what was going on, but it’s hard to deny the natural ability present here.
Colin Henry – This is DEFINITELY not what we expected from a retired piano player. He literally played on his head! It’s more of a gimmick than something that will win, but it’s fun. Can’t really complain.
Bespoke Candi – Complete camp with fire-dancers and fire-breathers. It’s at least memorable enough thanks to the dancing dinosaur that showed up in the middle.
Craig Ball – This is certainly something that was odd, but also really fun. He’s a singing impressionist! We like that he seems to be an ordinary guy, and we’re interested to see what else he can do.
Presentation School Choir – We’ve all seen choirs on the show before. What makes this one special is the way in which they were trained, and also some of their choreography to go along with it. Their song choice didn’t really show off their voices (Simon Cowell is right on that), we’re not going to let that take away from the overall entertainment value we got here.
Lisa and Chris Pitman – The “strongest couple” out there is apparently really great at smashing things to pieces. This was impressive, but we want to see them make this more of a real act.
Ian & Anne – They’re really fun! While they’re not necessarily the most amazing thing we’ve ever seen, their little dance and their relationship are cute. This may be the first David Walliams golden buzzer that has some sort of chance to make it to the final.
Balance – While this was basically “Evolution of Dance” with Susan Boyle thrown in there for good measure, we’d be a fool to deny it as superb entertainment. This was a lot of fun, and precisely what we were hoping to see from an act like him.
Kathleen Jenkins – She is sensational, powerful, and easily the best singer in the competition this season. She may be the current favorite to win the whole season, and we’re actually surprised Simon didn’t hit his golden buzzer for her.
