‘Person of Interest’ season 5: Could the show be revived down the road?

“Person of Interest” returns with its final season next month on CBS, and we definitely know that there is a contingent of people out there who (like us) are feeling rather bummed that the show is ending arguably before its time. True, it’s always better to go out before you wear out your welcome, but the show probably had another season still in it had it had a little bit of a different treatment from the network.

Is it possible, then, that there could be something more coming in the future? While it doesn’t seem that anything is imminent, Michael Emerson makes it clear to TV Guide that this is certainly something that cannot be completely ignored:

“The ending, I thought, was really satisfying – and still ever so slightly open-ended, so that if someone, someday wanted to reboot this thing, or have a Chapter 2 of some sort, it wouldn’t be out of the question … There are survivors … [but] not many.”

Given that Sarah Shahi in particular already has a new potential project in CBS’ “Nancy Drew” pilot, some of the cast members are looking to move on for the time being. This is just one of those situations where we’ll just have to take a wait-and-see approach in terms of seeing precisely what people want to do with the show after it ends. A big part of this could also be seeing what the ratings are for the final season, and if they surpass what some of the present expectations are for them.
