‘Britain’s Got Talent’ preview: Meet Ian and Anne, David Walliams’ golden buzzer act

More news -

Going into this weekend’s new episode of “Britain’s Got Talent” over on ITV, there is one thing that you really do need to remember: David Walliams has not as of yet used his Golden Buzzer. We also know a thing or two about the acts that he does choose to use it on; they’re silly, funny, and have utterly no chance of winning the competition. We don’t even really think that he cares a lot about that.

Could Ian and Anne be the perfect act for him this year? On paper, they seem to be. The two are a completely ridiculous singing duo with terrible dance moves performing what is an oddly compelling version of Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love.” They’re like the two normally-shy people who get a little booze, get up at the karaoke bar during an office party, and then just have themselves a good time.

Are we hopeful that they will have another performance that is as entertaining as this one? Not really, but this show needs a few acts who are just camp fun, and we’d be bored if every act was a singer with an emotional story, a giant choir, or a dance group doing moves we’ve seen a dozen or so other times in a different iterations. We’re not going to forget these two at any point in the near future, and we feel like for the sake of this competition, that is definitely a good thing. There are so many auditions that some become forgettable over time.

Update: As it turns out, these two were given David’s golden buzzer!
