‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ episode 10 video: A new advantage (with a twist)
Given that “Survivor” can at times be a brutal game where terrible things happen to you, it only makes some sense that on Wednesday night’s new episode, Jeff Probst is bringing to the table perhaps one of the most savage (not Andrew Savage) reward challenges to date.
The premise of this challenge is similar to many others we’ve seen over the years: Balancing pots. The real issue is what happens when you win. Basically, you have to choose: You can have a bacon cheeseburger with all the fixin’s, you can have some letters from home, or you can have a mysterious advantage that you can use at some point down the road. It’s one of the more strategic choices that we’ve seen, and we could even break this down further if need be. Let’s go ahead and rule out that burger, because someone would be crazy to take that over love from home or a game advantage. Plus, anyone who took that would be hated by the rest of the tribe since if you win letters, you probably are going to get a chance to give some to other players. But, what if there’s a limit to the number of players you can give them to? There’s still a chance to anger people.
There is really only one correct solution to this challenge, unless you know you are on the bottom and your back is against the wall: THROW THIS AND THROW THIS HARD. Maybe it makes some sense to win it if you are Jason, Scot, or Tai and clearly aren’t on the same side as many of the other players, but we’ve seen what an advantage did to both Dan Foley and Stephen Fishbach’s target in the game. (Granted, given the filming timeline for “Kaoh Rong” we’re not sure players saw either one of these twists play out — we know they didn’t see Stephen’s.)
Ultimately, don’t win this challenge if you feel like you have something to lose. You’ll either be slighted for not giving the right people letters, or slighted for picking an advantage over said letters. It’s a lose / lose situation.
