‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ episode 10 preview: Julia in the middle (again)
There has been a thing that “Survivor” has done a great job of setting up over the years: Narratives that actually begin a few episodes before they pay off. Last season, one of the big ones was Stephen’s frequent attempts to get out Joe. Another notable one was the mission for Coach to become the Dragonslayer and take out Brendan. It didn’t happen on the episode it was introduced (and in Stephen’s case, it didn’t happen until after he was voted out), but it still paid off in a big way.
For Wednesday night’s “Survivor: Kaoh Rong” episode, we’re going to continue to see seemingly the story of Julia Sokolowski pay off. On this past episode, Aubry’s plan to blindside her was thwarted by her winning immunity, and this in turn led to Debbie being the person voted out. Could that change coming up? It’s certainly possible.
What Julia does represent for Aubry and her group is an unknown who could be taken out of the equation. Sure, she did vote with them on this past episode, but it would’ve been idiotic for her to flip over then. She knew what the plan was, and there was no reason for her to do anything different than get Debbie out. This helped to create the impression that she was with the women, so if she was to flip later, she could do though presumably with less suspicion. The numbers could also work out better if there’s a vote split or anything else going on.
As interesting as the whole Julia situation is (especially with her being a good fallback option for Aubry and company), the real question is this: Will there be a way to get out Scot or Jason? If Aubry or anyone else wants to make it to the end of the game, they have to either take a chance and flush the super-idol, or get someone like Tai to flip.
Ultimately, this sounds like an incredibly interesting episode; we’ll just have to see if it lives up to the hype.
