‘The Blacklist’ season 3, episode 18 reaction: Ryan Eggold, James Spader on Megan Boone shocker

The Blacklist logo any seasonTonight, “The Blacklist” may have delivered one of the biggest shockers on TV in 2016 … or at least something that is right up there with what we saw recently with “Sleepy Hollow” and their own finale. On tonight’s new episode, we saw what strongly appeared to be the death of Liz Keen after she gave birth to a baby girl named Agnes. The character was put into a body bag, where Red said that he wanted “his people” to help care for the body rather than having her sent to a traditional morgue.

We cannot tell you whether or not she is truly gone, but here is a quick statement from her co-star Ryan Eggold to TVLine about what could be next:

“I was as shocked as I think the fans are! I have loved working with Megan, especially as we explored the complicated dynamic in Liz and Tom’s relationship. I’m incredibly curious to see how this deep cut affects Tom’s understanding of the world and what this means for the future of their daughter.”

Meanwhile, James Spader also did an interview with Entertainment Weekly discussing the events of the episode, and just as you would expect given the circumstances, he was extremely cagey regarding the future status of the Liz character beyond where we are now in the story:

“I think it’s most prudent not only as just myself and what I know or don’t know for that, but also in terms of the character of Reddington: Elizabeth Keen is dead.”
