Ratings: ‘Castle’ continues to help season 9 odds; ‘Supergirl’ stumbles; ‘Dancing with the Stars’ up

The ratings are in once more from Monday night’s TV lineup, and the prevailing wisdom at the moment is that ABC really should consider making a move soon to give “Castle” a little bit more security. After all, the ratings were yet again steady versus the most-recent episode.

The episode “Death Wish” ended up drawing in total a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic; while we certainly understand that this is not a stellar rating by any means, this is the sixth straight week the show has kept the same rating at a time when many other ABC shows have fallen. Not only that, but the 6.54 million viewers who caught the show make for the largest total audience we’ve seen since November.

Want to get some other ratings for Monday? Then here we go…

The good news – “Dancing with the Stars” improved its fortune on Disney night, and the show generated a 2.0 rating as a result of it. Meanwhile, both “Blindspot” (1.4) and “NCIS: Los Angeles” (1.3) were extremely solid versus past outings. (While it appears like “Crazy Ex Girlfriend” and “Jane the Virgin” posted increases to a 0.4 and 0.5, preemptions  for baseball mean that this will likely adjust down.)

The bad news – Without “The Flash” on board, “Supergirl” fell almost 30% to a 1.3 rating. Oof. We still think it’ll get renewed for another season, but this is not the sort of way that the show probably wanted to end the season. “Gotham” (1.2) and “Lucifer” (1.1) were also some notable drops, and “The Voice” (2.2) is getting dangerously close now to losing its #1 title on the night to “Dancing with the Stars.”
