‘Daredevil’ season 3 status unclear, per Charlie Cox; ‘The Defenders’ filming later this year

Will “Daredevil” receive a third season on Netflix? Conventional wisdom certainly suggests that it will happen. Even though not every review for season 2 was overwhelmingly positive, the service values their relationship with Marvel, and this show is up there with “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black” in the category of “series that get a heck of a lot of attention.”

Unfortunately, the show’s renewal status may be in a little bit of a holding pattern, as the priority for Marvel right now may be finishing up production on “Iron Fist” season 1, and then starting to work on “The Defenders,” the team-up series that has also held up making “Jessica Jones” season 2 happen (though we do know that it will be coming in the future).

Speaking in a recent press conference (per the Independent), “Daredevil” star Charlie Cox admitted that even he doesn’t know anything at the moment in regards to a season 3, but he did offer up the following on the present state of “The Defenders” and its production:

“What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome … I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.”

This news effectively confirms what so many of us previously wondered: “Iron Fist” star Finn Jones will be exhausted by the time we get to the end of this year. Given that he is currently working on his solo show, he’s not going to get a heck of a lot of time off before jumping into “The Defenders.”
