‘Britain’s Got Talent’ preview: Beau Dermott is Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer act
It’s never any surprise to see a singer audition for “Britain’s Got Talent,” given just how omnipresent many of these people are on the show these days. There’s also proportionately so many more singers than there are jugglers or magic acts, so of course the cup is going to runneth over a little bit here and there.
In the sneak peek below, you could see a particular singer in Beau Dermott do what she can to impress, even though at 12 years old she will probably be one of the younger singers trying out for the show. Her song choice here is incredibly impressing: “Defying Gravity” from “Wicked.” It shows that she has a certain sensibility for what sort of music she wants to sing and what she aspires to do someday. She’s got a great voice, and more than that a great stage presence.
If there is one thing that completely annoys us about talent show these days, it is the redundant packages of people who complain incessantly about having problems with nerves. The truth is that you need charisma to be a star, and people have to see your personality. Having a great voice isn’t enough. It’s fine to be nervous (Beau admits that she is to the judges), but you have to be able to put that to the side so that people can see whatever sort of talent you have. She does that, and this is precisely one of the reasons why she could have a real shot this season.
Ultimately, we’ll find out more about Beau and other acts when the show premieres this weekend! Head over here to get some other coverage from the show.
Update: We can now confirm that Beau is the recipient of Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer!
