‘Shark Tank’ video: Can PrideBites take a bite out of pet customization?
This is where PrideBites comes in on “Shark Tank” Friday night. They are a company who specialize in personalized or even hand-drawn portraits of dogs that you can place onto many of their designs. It’s giving you the freedom to create better memories with the products that you buy, and in some way actually create a new sort of way for people out on the street to get to know your dog’s name.
Going into any pitch with such customization, we always wonder if it will be a little kitschy or hokey, especially in the pet category. However, their take on Robert Herjavec’s dog in one of the samples really seems to impress him, and it looks like many of their products are high-quality.
Is there a fit here with the other Sharks? We wonder if there could be any conflicts given that we knew some of them do already have other pet products in their portfolios, but we do legitimately think that something is here. With the customization, they help to keep this from merely being an impulse-buy company, which is something that we think many other pet accessories are. We rarely ever go out thinking we’re going to buy a new pet toy, but sometimes do when we buy dog food.
