‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 premiere: ‘The Red Woman’ synopsis includes familiar Jon Snow detail
Today, HBO finally lifted the veil on a couple of aspects of the upcoming season 6 premiere of “Game of Thrones“: The title, and the official synopsis.
Let’s start with the first: “The Red Woman” episode. It’s been long speculated that Melisandre could be the key in bringing Jon Snow back to life, and the synopsis below certainly makes it clear that for the time being, he is anything other than living:
“Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.”
Who is to say thought that someone who is dead stays dead within this world since we’ve seen people brought back to life through the lord of light? This is why it’s so easy for HBO, Kit Harington, and every other cast and crew member on the planet to say that Jon is “dead,” since in this world there are ways where that may not stick. Granted, even if Melisandre does in some way revive the character, it is still very likely that he will not be the Jon Snow we remember. He could easily end up becoming a very different sort of man, and also someone not even remotely aligned with the Night’s Watch.
There are many things worth watching out for this season, and the show knows that they’ve got us hooked. This is why showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff wrote this episode personally, and why familiar director Jeremy Podeswa is at the helm. They want to make sure that all of the components are in place in order to tell this story and kick the season off on the right foot.
