‘Talking Dead’ finale: Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins Norman Reedus, Chris Hardwick, talks Negan

talkingThe season finale of “The Walking Dead,” as it turns out, did not specifically kill a major character … but it did kill someone. It’s rather complicated, but we saw a character get beaten to death, with the big twist being that we saw it from the perspective of the character. Therefore, we’re stuck over the course of the next few months wondering just who in the world this character could be.

What we do know is that Jeffrey Dean Morgan was the surprise guest on the “Talking Dead” finale, and it claimed that “it felt like it’s been the biggest audition of [his] life” debuting as this character in front of the fans.

As for getting Lucille in his hands for the first time, Morgan had a very specific message:

“It felt good. I feel bad for whoever’s on the receiving end, but for me as soon as I held her, I was Negan. That kind of did it for me. The preparation I did didn’t mean much when I had [Lucille] in my hands.”

We’re going to be seeing a lot more of Negan throughout the upcoming season, and we imagine by and large that this is going to be a very difficult character for Rick and company to tackle. He’s incredibly charismatic, violent, and will do anything that he can in order to ensure the destruction of his enemies. Just through some of his final scenes, you got a really good sense of precisely how manipulative he can be in some specific moments.
