‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Greg Germann sets up Hades / Zelena relationship

Sunday night’s new episode of “Once Upon a Time” is slated to be a key hour for many of the show’s characters, but at the moment we’d be willing to wager that Hades is somewhere near the top of that list. For those of you out there who have been clamoring for a little bit more insight into who this man truly is, rest assured that this story will provide you with at least some semblance of payoff.

Specifically, we’re talking about the king of the Underworld’s relationship with Zelena, who also will be returning to the series after a few episodes away. (Last we saw, she had been jettisoned back to Oz.) In speaking about the dynamic between the two, Greg Germann tells TV Guide that it is not necessarily a romantic bond … though there is potential for it to be that way:

“Hades and Zelena could either be great adversaries or a great match. Because of both of those things, they are both formidable in their own way. There’s definitely some sparks that will fly in one direction or another between those two.”

Anything that further expounds upon these characters is a good thing to us, and we would certainly be rather satisfied if this story eventually led to some sort of villain team-up that made the challenge for our heroes all the more extreme. Rest assured that we want nothing terrible to happen to them, but at the same time it certainly does not hurt for them to be facing some sort of adversity.
