‘Billions’ episode 11 preview: Axe faces a turnaround
With “Billions” being near the end of its first-season run on Showtime, we’re in for quite an interesting two-hour stretch here over the next week or so. Axe is closer to everything crumbling than he has been to date, even in the aftermath of a key informant going away.
It is with this in mind that you see just the tiniest sliver of vulnerability in the sneak peek HERE, as Damian Lewis’ character makes it clear that there has been a change of plans, and he is not going to be able to do for his wife Lara what he was previously hoping to. Ultimately, the simple reason for this is because there are matters that he must attend to, and he has to do so in a somewhat-covert manner.
What we really wonder at the moment is not what Axe is willing to do in order to save himself from prison — mostly because of the fact that he has already shown that he is not above using 9/11 for his own personal gain — it’s instead what Chuck is willing to do in order to stop him. Is there a point where he ultimately does more harm than good? The further and further we get into this season, and the more we start to see him teetering on the edge and going so much further than we ever expected that he could. His alternating judge strategy is a little bit of a further example of this.
