Ratings: ‘The Amazing Race,’ ‘The Vampire Diaries’ rise in return; ‘Blue Bloods’ tops night
With “Shark Tank” in repeats on Friday night, there was a pretty open competition elsewhere when it comes to who was going to get the lion’s share of the ratings.
The good news – For all of you out there who enjoy “The Amazing Race,” the show did find its footing once more with its return to the air Friday night. A 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic may not be tremendous, but clearly CBS is liking it enough to continue renewing the show year after year. Meanwhile, “The Vampire Diaries” (0.5) also returned up following a hiatus the past few weeks. “The Originals” (0.4) was fairly steady,” and “Sleepy Hollow” (0.7) actually improved.
Meanwhile, kudos to “Blue Bloods” (1.2) for being the undisputed champ on the night. Sure, it’s ratings did not rise, but it is not often it can claim the #1 spot without competition.
The bad news – It was a pretty good night for Friday TV at least in comparison to recent weeks, given that the only seismic shift down was “Hell’s Kitchen” (0.8). Granted, we didn’t expect anything less when it comes to the show suffering from yet another timeslot move; this sort of thing is going to happen when you go from airing on Wednesday night to airing in what was once referred to as a “death slot.” It’s not that way anymore, though, at least with this show.
For those who really care, “20/20” (1.0) and “Dateline” (0.9) were both down, but we know those shows are not going anywhere and therefore we could really care less about reporting their ratings.
