‘Saturday Night Live’ brings on Russell Crowe, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as April hosts

SNL -We knew that this weekend “Saturday Night Live” would be returning with new episodes, and one featuring a rather beloved host in Peter Dinklage. Moving forward into the month of April, we also now know that we’re in for a heck of an interesting set of shows.

Let’s start here with the April 9 installment hosted by Russell Crowe, which mostly surprises us because somehow, Crowe has never hosted before now. We know that he does have the capacity to make fun of himself, so this could be a really interesting episode to check out. We’re not altogether familiar with the musical guest in Margo Price, who is an up-and-coming country singer who is still so much on the underground that she doesn’t even have a verified Twitter account just yet. Consider this a case of the show really looking to expose talent to the masses.

Meanwhile, the April 16 show features the return of former cast member Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who has hosted the show on a few occasions, while Nick Jonas will be performing for the first time as a solo headliner. It’s a pretty solid lineup for the month when it comes to a wide array of talent, even if two of them have HBO shows to promote. (Julia’s “Veep” premieres not long after “Game of Thrones.”)

Following the April 16 show we imagine that we’ll get some sort of hiatus, and then “SNL” will come back for its final shows at some point in May. If we had it our way, we would have one of them feature an alumni host, while the other be the return of Dwayne Johnson, who possibly had one of our favorite shows of the past few years.
