‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Peter Dinklage, Cecily Strong draw some laughs

SNL -Who said that “The Big Bang Theory” is the only show that can have a little bit of fun with flags? We’ve just seen the first promo for this weekend’s all-new episode of “Saturday Night Live” featuring “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage as host, and it definitely appears as though there is going to be a heck of a lot to like here even if you are just a casual fan of the actor.

In this promo, we see Dinklage of course do a few customary “Game of Thrones” jokes, but he also takes about his love for Gwen Stefani; plus, he and Cecily at one point confuse what they are watching for “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” It’s a fun little Marvel / DC joke here, given that Dinklage has a role within the “X-Men” universe.

This weekend is the first time that Dinklage has hosted the show, though he did previously cameo as “Peter Drunklage” during a Drunk Uncle sketch on “Weekend Update.” He’s familiar with performing in front of live audiences, and he’s certainly done a lot of comedy over the course of his career. When you consider all of this and wrap it up into a neat little package, it definitely feels like an almost-sure thing that we are going to be in for a good show this weekend. We suppose that ultimately, we will learn for certain when the show airs on NBC.

Also, we imagine that Dinklage will do at least one more promo featuring a cast member and Stefani. This tends to come out a little bit later in the week.
