‘Criminal Minds’ season 12: Could Aisha Tyler return as Dr. Tara Lewis?
It may be fair to now say that we are in a state of relative transition when it comes to “Criminal Minds” on CBS. After all, Shemar Moore is now gone from the cast, but the series does still have to figure out some ways to move forward without him around. There are more episodes to come this season, and even if they focus on the established crew and don’t bring anyone else in, there are still questions regarding Aisha Tyler’s Dr. Tara Lewis. She is not a regular, but yet at the same time, we get the sense that both the show and viewers would love to keep her around.
There is no better gauge of how beloved a recurring guest star is to a cast and crew than how often they turn up. Tyler was at first set for mostly a small arc, something that would be a great way for the show to have another female voice on the team with AJ Cook on maternity leave. However, her popularity has led to more appearances, and everyone has had nothing but wonderful things to say about her.
As a matter of fact, showrunner Erica Messer told TVLine recently that it is her “hope” that they keep Tyler on board the show for a twelfth season in some capacity, stating that the show “loves” having her around.
While things with this series can clearly change with the drop of the hat, here is to hoping that we get some more chances to see Aisha on the show in the future.
