Ratings: ‘Heartbeat’ has a pulse (but not much more); ‘The Flash,’ ‘Agents of SHIELD’ down
The ratings woes all across the board continued on Tuesday night, and it of course makes you wonder why in the world viewers are tuning away from so many shows all of a sudden? Is the extra hour of sunshine / “Daredevil” season 2 really making that enormous of an impact? It’s something that is at least worthy of a discussion, though we’re being rather tongue-in-cheek about the last part.
The good news – Here it is: “Limitless” (1.3) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (1.8) each improved on their most-recent new episodes, while “NCIS” proper (2.0) stayed steady. It was a good night as a whole for CBS, as the only show elsewhere to improve was “Fresh Off the Boat” for ABC, which rose to a 1.2.
The bad news – Let’s start our discussion of horrible news with “Agents of SHIELD” falling further to a 0.9 rating, which does not give us much hope for the “Marvel’s Most Wanted” spin-off ever getting off the ground. “Beyond the Tank” (0.6) also plummeted in its new timeslot, only doing marginally better than the canceled “Of Kings and Prophets.”
Meanwhile, “The Flash” fell to a season-low 1.1 rating, and while “The Voice” may have won the night, it did so with only a 2.4. This is a show that was at one point faring so much better than this, and we have to feel like the viewer fatigue is especially strong during the battle rounds. “Heartbeat” premiered to a 1.4 rating after it, which is okay but doesn’t give us much hope for when it shifts into its normal timeslot.
Hopefully, we’ll see a turnaround on at least some of these shows soon. In the case of “The Flash,” maybe there are some out there who didn’t realize it was back.
