‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: What’s next after big Rumpelstiltskin, Belle reveal?

Nothing in the world of “Once Upon a Time” is easy, and this especially remains true for the Rumpelstiltskin character above all others. He has uttered the phrase “magic comes with a price” on a variety of locations, so it only makes a little bit of sense that eventually, this would come back to bite him in its own way. The good news that he learned in Sunday night’s installment is that Belle is pregnant with his child; however, the bad news is that due to a promise he made many years ago, it is very well possible that he will have to give that child away. Hades now owns the contract, and unless Rumple does his bidding for an indefinite amount of time, he will take the child.

In speaking about the ramifications of this big reveal to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Edward Kitsis had the following to say:

“It’s going to affect both of them … As we saw in the premiere episode, Rumple lied to her. The question we get is, ‘He’s lied to her so many times, has he learned anything?’ And I think he has. When he finds out that she’s pregnant, it’s going to affect him, it’s going to affect her, it’s definitely going to affect his motivation. Rumple is a new person. We know why he grabbed that dagger, but we’re really going to understand more of where he’s coming from.”

This is going to be quite a pickle for Rumple to work his way out of, but we presume that at least for him, the good news here is that he has certainly overcome worse over the years than this. If there is someone more than capable of weaseling their way out of any sort of situation, it’s probably him.
