‘Billions’ episode 9 preview: Axe and Lara talk things out

There’s a new episode of “Billions” coming to Showtime on Sunday night, and if there is one thing that we can say about it right now, it is this: Axe is as stubborn a guy as they come. He’s brilliant without question, but you could say that hubris is one of his greatest weaknesses, even in spite of the overwhelming success that he has achieved over the course of his life.

In the sneak peek HERE from Sunday’s episode, you get a further sense of that as even while some of his world is starting to cave in, Axe is more than fine to continue to shoot pool without too many cares in the world … or at least that is the image that he is projecting. He also makes it clear to Lara that despite the recent scary incident, he has no intention at all of moving his family anywhere else. If someone wants to take him, they’re going to have to do it here.

Given that this show has already been renewed for a second season, we’d be willing right now to wager that no matter what happens, the story is going to still be complicated for at least a little while longer. If you arrest Axe this season, what more is there left to say with the show? We feel like you need to come up with some sort of happy medium, some way that you can push Axe and show a descent without completely ending the story. That is the way to set up for some more excellent episodes in the future.
