‘Person of Interest’ season 5, ‘The Odd Couple’ season 2 premiere dates revealed
For the remainder of its spring season, CBS has clearly opted to do some rather unusual things with some of its shows.
We begin here with “Person of Interest,” as the crime drama is set now to officially premiere on Tuesday, May 3 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, with there being a rather-interesting twist going along with it. New episodes of the show are going to air twice a week following that day, it will also air Mondays at 10:00. Therefore, there will be a new episode on May 9, May 10, and then so on. It’s an interesting twist for the show, and given that so many people binge-watch these days, it may not have an enormous impact on some of the ratings.
Now that we have said this, it does not exactly give us great confidence that the show is in the long-term future of CBS unless it manages to come on and premiere to huge ratings. This feels very much like a “we’re just burning off the episodes we have” sort of phenomenon. Update: The network has now confirmed season 5 is the show’s last.
Meanwhile, the network did also confirm that “The Odd Couple” season 2, which premieres on Thursday, April 7 at 9:30 p.m., will air twice a week starting on Monday, May 2 at the same exact time. We anticipate this being a similar phenomenon, which is somewhat-strange to us given that the show at least does solid numbers after “The Big Bang Theory.”
Finally, the final season of “Mike & Molly” will return on Monday, April 25 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, and it will air back-to-back episodes beginning the following week. All of this is somewhat-confusing, but it further shows that CBS does not want these shows to run too deep into the summer.
