Is ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 14 new tonight? New Stana Katic photo

Monday nights have quickly once again become “Castle” nights over the course of the past month-plus. While the ABC series may have been off the air for a while due to the holidays and “Bachelor” live, we were very much happy to be settled into a little bit more of a routine again.

With that being said, we are unfortunately going to be without a new episode tonight. The reason for that is pretty simple, given that it is by and large the same reason that we’ve seen with this show time and time again over the years around this time: The “Bachelor” finale. This is always a three-hour event that draws big ratings, so “Castle” is always preempted. That’s never going to change given where things are right now in terms of numbers and episode counts.

When “Castle” does return on March 21, it will have a new lead-in in “Dancing with the Stars,” and it will also be telling an intense story in “Fidelis Ad Mortem.” This is the first story we’ve seen since Rick learned about the truth with LokSat and his past, and Stana Katic will be back in a big way investigating a case at Kate’s old NYPD Academy. We don’t know the connection between this and anything else, but it is nice to see Beckett at the center of story again. That’s been a little more of a rarity during season 8 so far.
