‘Suits’ season 5 finale spoilers: An epic tease from Patrick J. Adams
Just in case you were looking for verification that the upcoming season 5 finale of “Suits” is one of the craziest things that the USA series has put on the air, we’ve certainly now got it. Mike Ross’ freedom is at stake on tonight’s episode, and by the time we say goodbye to this batch of episodes, nothing will ever be precisely as we once knew it ever again.
Curious in some specifics as to why? For that, let’s turn to someone who definitely knows this show better than anyone in star Patrick J. Adams. Speaking in a new interview with TVLine on the subject, he had the following message to pass along:
“I think it’s a more of a game changer than we’ve ever really done. We’ve had a couple of major, major moments where the show has taken a twist, but this is the first time that we’re doing something [where] you can’t put all the pieces back exactly where they were before. That is a really exciting thing to do to a show, especially in its fifth season. You can either try or replicate what has worked for so long or you take a risk and push these characters in new directions. The writers made a really brave decision to do what needed to be done, and I don’t think the show will ever quite be the same.”
At the moment we just hope that this installment lives up to the billing that we’ve got for it in our head, since we’re envisioning a sixth season right now where Mike is either just getting out of prison, is no longer a lawyer, or has sent someone else to prison. The great thing in terms of stakes is that it seems fundamentally impossible that we could be entering the next season with the same roster of people who were at the center of season 5 in the same exact place.
