‘The Amazing Race 28’ episode 3 preview: Zach & Rachel find a fan in Colombia

One of the most interesting things about “The Amazing Race” this season is that you’re not just dealing with contestants who are complete unknowns. These are internet stars, and their videos have the ability to be watched all over the world. While they are not at a George Clooney level of fame by any means, they still have the ability to leverage their notoriety here and there if they run into someone who knows who they are.

In the video below, you can see how Zach King finds a little bit of help courtesy of a fan in Colombia who seems to what a little bit of help with a task in return for a selfie. It definitely works to their advantage, given that one of the primary goals of this task is to convince people seemingly to get aboard your bus. Trust is a key component of this working out well, and if someone already knows you from the internet, they’re more inclined to trust you.

In particular, we think that Zach & Rachel could benefit from his fame more even than some other teams. Much of what Zach does that is so impressive is visual; therefore, it’s feasible that as the race goes on he could have fans all over the world who don’t even speak English. (The fan in this sneak peek luckily happens to.) Meanwhile, we’re not sure some of the other racers are going to have that same following among non-English speakers. Maybe we’re spending more time thinking about this than we really need to, but we just happen to be fascinated by some of the dynamics that are being introduced as a result of this season.
