‘The Big Bang Theory’ gets its own day in Pasadena for 200th episode

Big Bang Theory -As if there was not enough to celebrate as it is for “The Big Bang Theory” with the show entering its big 200th episode, we come bearing some other tremendous news: The city of Pasadena has decided to turn the event into a holiday in its own right.

At an event over the weekend celebrating the milestone, the city announced that Thursday, February 25 will be known as The Big Bang Theory Day. While the show is not technically filmed in Pasadena (its sets are located on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank), the series is set for the most part in Pasadena. This is where many of the familiar locales are, and we have to imagine that this show is one of the best sources of publicity that the city has beyond of course the Rose Parade.

In a statement, executive producers Steve Molaro, Bill Prady, and Chuck Lorre had the following to say about the honor:

“For 200 episodes, The Big Bang Theory has called Pasadena home. Even though we tape the show just down the road at Warner Bros., we’re honored that the city of Pasadena, which has given so much to our characters and our stories, has once again proved itself to be a true inspiration.”

It is very rare for any comedy to make it to the 200-episode threshold, which is what makes this event so unique … especially when you consider that this is also the #1 comedy on TV still. We know for certain that there is a tenth season coming up next year, but there is no word as of yet about whether or not that season will be the last.
