‘Shark Tank’ video: Can R Riveter make a riveting pitch?
The idea behind R Riveter is producing a high quality line of handbags made by military spouses for proud, powerful American women. The bags are made from military-grade materials, but still look sleek and fashionable. They also of course come in a variety of designs.
There are inevitably going to be some comparisons between this company and Sarah Oliver Handbags from earlier this season, but we’d say the real difference here comes in the material. These are not knit bags, and these may cater to a different audience.
While we like the designs fairly well (though, admittedly, we’re not the target audience), the question that we have for the ladies behind the brand is this: Can they make a case to the Sharks that continue to manufacture in the United States is worth it? It’s wonderful what they are doing in supporting military spouses, but we’re coming in here with a preemptive attack on what some of the comments are going to be when Mr. Wonderful comes at them, saying that he is about making money first and foremost. They can have the best of both worlds, but are going to need a compelling bit of proof in order to highlight that.
