‘The Good Wife’ season 7 spoilers: First news on Carrie Preston’s return
It was revealed some time ago that Carrie Preston was going to be returning to “The Good Wife” in the role of Elsbeth, and we’re not starting to figure out why she is coming back … and how it is related to Peter Florrick.
Remember how Ruth made it clear that losing Iowa could come back to decimate the Governor in a big way? That could be what is happening, mostly because of the fact that he has some skeletons in his closet. The synopsis below for the January 21 episode (entitled “Targets”) gives you a little bit more of a sense as to what is coming back, and how Elsbeth could be helping out Peter in the midst of an FBI investigation:
“Alicia joins a secret panel of attorneys advising the U.S. government on a controversial case. Also, Eli hires Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) to uncover why the FBI is targeting Peter.”
We certainly know that Elsbeth is great at her job, but that doesn’t quite change the fact that Peter is in deep trouble. As for Alicia, we’re mostly curious about how this new case is tied in any way to one of her new jobs at Lockhart, Agos, & Lee. She will be joining the firm once more starting with the February 14 installment, and things could become more and more interesting once she interacts with the likes of Diane and Cary on a fairly regular basis. Just as you would expect, we’re going to have some additional news on this very soon. Be sure to be on the lookout for some of that!
