‘The Amazing Race 28’ spotlight: Can Cole LaBrant, mother Sheri take home the money?
“The Amazing Race 28” is getting set to premiere on CBS February 12, but before that happens, we’re rather thrilled to give you some more editions of our spotlight series! Here, we’re specifically set to profile a pair in Cole & Sheri LaBrant who have a chance to be darkhorse contenders throughout the race. They have a fan following, but more than that they have a few race skills that could prove to be rather valuable.

Relationship – Father / daughter.
Claim to fame – Cole is a famous Vine star with more than 7.5 million followers across all platforms. As he describes in the video, this all happened to him by complete accident, and was definitely not something he prepared for in any way. (Personally, we love these stories so much more than people actively seeking fame.)
Strengths – While mother / son teams don’t frequently win the race, there is a history of several of them doing fairly well. We think part of the reason why stems from the fact that the son is typically able to handle the physical tasks, while the mom has the life experience and the wisdom to excel in some of the mental tasks, and she’ll know when to slow down and be patient rather than expending energy for no reason. We really see this dynamic playing out with Cole (who at 19 doesn’t have a whole lot of life experience) and his mother, who has six children and knows how to be caring and diplomatic.
Weaknesses – They’re probably not winning any footraces, and while these two talk about doing a lot of traveling in America, we’re not sure how much experience they have going to other destinations around the world. They could be a little green, and struggle with the language barrier and some other things that they are not commonly exposed to in Alabama. We’re thinking that they will be very nice, but will they be aggressive enough when the chips are down?
Prediction – We have a feeling that Cole & Sheri will do a pretty good job at navigating their way through the early legs of the race; it’s in the midway point of it that they’ll probably find themselves in a little bit of trouble. They’ll have a good social game, but we see them eventually making a few mistakes that are hard to recover from.
