‘Suits’ season 5 spoilers: Where is the story for Jessica headed?

Season 5 of “Suits” definitely started things off in a big way on Wednesday, given everything that we had a chance to see with Mike Ross’ arrest and the aftermath. He thinks that he has found a way to protect himself in the short-term by threatening Jack Soloff, but we have a hard time thinking that’s going to stick. After all, Anita Gibbs is a smart woman, and she’s close to sniffing out Harvey, let alone some other members of the firm.

How is Jessica Pearson going to handle everything moving forward? She’s an interesting case study since she is often level-headed, and takes a stance that is about protecting the firm first and foremost. However, as executive producer Aaron Korsh teases to Entertainment Weekly, we could see matters become very complicated for her in the near future:

“[Jessica is] going to seek out help from an old friend, and that help is going to result in an exploration of her past choices … For her, survival doesn’t just mean staying out of prison, it also means keeping her firm in tact. That’s going to be foremost on her mind. But the idea of there being something more important than the firm has been planted in her head and we’ll see if that takes root.”

Our personal hope would be that this said person is Jeff Malone since we really liked that character and the relationship between him and Jessica, but there’s no confirmation of that. What we do know is that he is someone who really did cause Jessica to think about her personal life for one of the first times in a while.
