‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7, episode 10 video: Damon’s new-found torment
Friday night’s new episode of “The Vampire Diaries” is definitely entitled “Hell is Other People” for a reason. Based on the sneak peek below, Damon Salvatore’s personal hell is going to be a lonely, depressing place to be.
As a result of the actions with the phoenix stone in the winter finale, Damon’s new purgatory is the time of the Civil War, back during what we consider his origin story-of-sorts. He wakes up to receive a letter from Stefan, where he also describes some of his own loneliness and suffering in extremely-clear terms. We like how the have the character writing more in the way in which someone would pen such a letter during this time rather than having him sound like he would in 2017.
As for whether or not Damon is going to find his way out of this, we’re going to have to wait and see how this particular story unfolds Friday. It’s probably going to be one of the best showcases for Ian Somerhalder to date, and a great example of some of the material he has been given during this much-improved season.
Other than what happens to Damon, the other major mystery on our mind at present is how in the world the show is going to fare in this new, super-challenging time. Hopefully viewers will still remember that it is on, and choose watching it over all of the different things that will be taking place on a Friday. this is the first time since the beginning of the series that it has aired on a different night.
