‘Suits’ season 5, episode 11 review: Musical office chairs at Pearson Specter Litt

With every passing episode of “Suits,” one thing remains clear: We’re probably becoming more and more obsessed with the show. How could we not? It’s a series that pretty much makes us giddy anytime Harvey Specter swears. Maybe this is a personal problem.

Anyway, the winter premiere “Blowback” was all sorts of fantastic, mostly because of how the show layered in so many different things over the course of the hour in which it aired. For one, Donna is coming back to work with a no-longer-resigned Harvey! All is good between the two of them once more, and Louis Litt set her free to do what she wants to in regards to Mike’s case. Louis knows that he cannot be attached to anything that is going on here; therefore, he will let Donna do what she wants. (Apparently, Louis deals with his sorrow by taking a mud bath, which made for a nice little scene between him and Jessica.)

Most of the hour instead revolved around trying to figure out who was responsible for leaking the news to prosecutor Anita Gibbs, and this was quite a manhunt that spanned several season’s worth of characters. Scottie had a brief return, Trevor did as well, and even Daniel Hardman was mentioned. Both Mike and Harvey received offers to turn on people, and they rejected him. Instead, they used these offers to come up with a different idea: Threaten Jack Soloff to back off of Jessica, or Mike would proclaim that he was his co-conspirator back at the firm.

By the end of the premiere, though, there was still no firm evidence as to who the responsible party was … but for a split second, we did have a crazy thought about it being Rachel. What if she did turn Mike in, thinking that Harvey and company would get him out of it, and they would never have to worry about this “hanging over their head” again? It’s probably crazy, but we’re not going to hide these random thoughts from you.

Would it have been nice to get some answers tonight? Sure, but we got compelling television, switcheroos, and so much more. A heck of a way to start off 5B. Grade: A-.
