‘Saturday Night Live’ with Ronda Rousey, Selena Gomez happening despite storms

We may have a new contender for “best Saturday Night Live promo of the year,” and this one seems to be ironically created at the very last second just as a last-minute way to assure fans that the show is still going on the air.

Below, you can see a new promo created specifically for the purpose of showing Leslie Jones out in the snow, where she is doing almost everything in her power to make it clear that Winter Storm Jonas is not going to slow them down. In one, she directly challenges Jonas be screaming at the storm; in another, she frantically tries to save musical guest Selena Gomez, who she claims is buried somewhere underneath the snow. Jones is funny enough to carry a promo without any help from anybody, so it works.

As for whether or not tonight’s show will, that is something we’re taking more of a wait-and-see approach on. We’re not feeling all that optimistic about host Ronda Rousey based solely on her lack of experience in the venue, but she could surprise us. A good comparison from last year was Blake Shelton, who proved himself to be at least game for taking on some different goofy roles. While he didn’t necessarily knock it out of the park, he was amusing and it was nice to see him in a different venue.
