‘The Voice UK’ review: Deano, Irene Alano-Rhodes, more perform in blind auditions #3
This weekend marks another episode of “The Voice UK,” and the blind auditions are yet again upon us! Will this be the show that actually improves the season, and gives us someone new who we can celebrate and root for? Or, is this going to be more of the same? We’re going to be reviewing this episode live, and we’ll give you more on the contestants as they start to come out.
Colet Selwyn – This is what makes this show so annoying. The moment he started singing in a deep-voiced country tone, the coaches no longer took it seriously. While there was some straining going on, he could legitimately sing. It wasn’t a joke. The coaches didn’t even give him feedback on why they didn’t pick him.
Charley – Look, it’s a contestant over 40 getting a chance to be on the show! Thank Boy George for that, since he was willing to give her a shot on his team. George is getting a lot of one-chair turns on his team, and what’s interesting about him is that he may have connections with his artists that other people do not have. Team George.
Tom Milner – The former TV star and football announced has an interesting voice; it was almost shrill, but totally unique and interesting. Great stage presence. It was pretty obvious that Ricky Wilson wanted him, so nobody else even bothered to turn. Team Ricky.
Lauren Lapsley-Browne – Did her voice leave a little to be desired? She performed following a string of unsuccessful auditions, but even she was a little sketchy and may not have made it with a stronger talent pool. Still, she was very sweet, and did enough to get two coaches to turn. Team Will.
Efe Udugba – He’s got a solid voice, and more than that he has a good sort of style and is someone who the British public is going to like. We do enjoy how picked the coaches are being this time around! It really makes every single turn matter! Team Ricky.
Deano – Probably the best performance of the night, mostly because it’s the only one we actually connected with on a personal level. Not only did Deano have a good voice, but he also brought some meaning to what he was doing in the midst of all of the sparkle and the flitz of this show. Team Paloma.
Irene Alano-Rhodes – Our final audition of the night, and probably the best singer out of anyone we heard. There is a lot that Irene brings to the table vocally, and we enjoyed everything that she was able to do here. It wasn’t as emotional for us as Deano’s, but we understand why she got to close the show. Team Will.
