Ratings: ‘Reign’ season 3, ‘Blue Bloods,’ ‘Hawaii Five-0’ all rise (for now)
If you look across the spectrum of some of the ratings for primetime television last night, the numbers maybe very misleading. On the surface, they all look so great! Yet, at the same time storms in the northeast may be causing them to appear larger than they really are. This is going to be a mess to unscramble and then some. For some shows, they may have just had weather updates during commercials; meanwhile, for others they may have been preempted outright.
The one silver lining for some of them is that they may stay highly-rated even with adjustments, mostly because people are home and not able to go out in the snow.
The winners – For the time being, “Reign” is showing off some of its best numbers in a while in the form of a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The same goes for “Blue Bloods” with a 1.5 and “Undercover Boss” with a 1.4. “Hawaii Five-0” also tied the 1.4 rating that it got a little while ago, while “MasterChef Junior” tied for the win with a 1.5 of its own.
How much of these will ultimately last? We’re still waiting to get a firm answer there, but by our estimation we’d be happy if at least most of them stay within a tenth or two of where they are now. “Reign” has averaged around a 0.3, while “Blue Bloods” and “Hawaii” have scored somewhere in the 1.3-1.4 range most of January so far.
The losers – Even if the show doesn’t adjust in the final ratings, “Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon” scored only a 0.9, which further shows you just how dated this format of the hidden-camera show really is.
