‘Suits’ season 5 spoilers: Harvey and Jessica get dragged into Mike’s mess
When “Suits” season 5 returns to USA with new episodes in one week’s time, know this: It’s only going to be a matter of time before someone tries to make Harvey Specter and Jessica Pearson pay the piper for Mike Ross’ actions. Yes, he is the main perpetrator as one creating fraud, but they enabled the process. Any good prosecutor will be able to figure that someone else probably knew about it; the idea of attorneys hiring another attorney without doing a thorough background check over the years is idiotic, and our villain-of-sorts for the remainder of the season in Anita Gibbs will figure this out in a split second.
This brings us to February 3’s “Live to Fight…,” which could be the first time in the second half of the season you start to see Gabriel Macht and Gina Torres’ characters starting to sweat a little bit. Notice we say “could” here, given we haven’t seen the winter premiere just yet. Official episode details from USA hint that you will see that Gibbs is starting to target Harvey and Jessica for their roles in the cover-up, while on Mike’s end he could be working to pick up the pieces with Louis Litt on a key piece of evidence.
This is where we’ve come to in season 5: Mike’s safety and freedom could depend on Louis Litt of all people; not only that, but Litt may actually be willing to help him. Isn’t this the beauty of great character development? In keeping the cast small and giving these characters ample ground to grow, we buy something that would have been completely ludicrous a couple of years ago.
If you’re hoping for answers in this episode, here’s a hint: Stop hoping. Maybe we will learn within the first few season 5B episodes who ratted Mike out to the feds, but it’s far too early to say goodbye to this story.
