‘Scream Queens’ renewed for season 2; will have hospital theme
This has to be considered a pleasant surprise for many diehard TV fans out there: Fox is giving “Scream Queens” another shot.
The horror-comedy, which may in retrospect be one of the most entertaining and underrated shows from the fall, is going to be given a second season. Network heads Gary Newman and Dana Walden confirmed the news at the TCA Winter Press Tour on Friday, along with making it clear that the theme for the next batch of episodes will be a hospital. There’s kind of a funny connection here between this and another Ryan Murphy show in “American Horror Story,” which had its second season at an asylum, albeit one in a different era than season 1.
As far as who is going to return for the next season, that is still very much up in the air. We do know that the intention here is to connect the narratives from one season to the next directly, unlike the “Horror Story” franchise that only tends to do this with a character or two a season. Given that Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis were really the breakout stars of season 1, we feel ready to beg someone to get them back.
Ultimately, the only word that we can use to describe our feeling right now is “delighted” … and that is not a word that you would typically want to use to describe a horror series at all. Luckily, the show’s got enough humor to make it worthwhile.
