‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9 spoilers: Meet Sheldon’s grandmother!
For anyone who has been hoping to see more of Sheldon’s family on “The Big Bang Theory,” we come bearing news: We’re about to see his Meemaw for the first time!
As you may recall, Sheldon has referenced this character often over the course of the entire series, but to be perfectly honest, we did not exactly remember whether or not she was even alive until now. (There may be references in individual episodes that we just don’t recall.) Entertainment Weekly reports that Oscar nominee June Squibb will be playing the character in an upcoming February episode, and that is tremendously exciting. Maybe we’ll understand more of where he came from, especially since his father died when he was a teenager and his mother is really the only character we’ve seen on several occasions throughout the series. (We did meet his twin sister Missy in the first season, but she has not appeared onscreen since.)
If there is one thing that we’d like to see on “The Big Bang Theory” before the show concludes, it is more of the characters’ families. For example, we’ve never met Leonard’s father, Penny’s mother, or really any of Amy’s family. There are some chances to bring on some guest stars to do some fun things if the writers come up with god ideas.
Of course, there is also Howard’s father, someone who has been mentioned numerous times but never appeared. Given that there are no indications that he is anything other than a horrible person (he’s left two different families now), we’re not entirely sure that this is a subject the show wants to touch on in a substantial way.
