‘Downton Abbey’ season 6, episode 2 preview (PBS): Big story ahead for Laura Carmichael’s Edith
One of the things that was a little hindering about Sunday night’s season 6 premiere of “Downton Abbey,” at least for us, was the amount of time we needed to focus on Anna, Bates, and a story regarding Mr. Green that really should have been done away with some time ago. To have to focus on it yet again right now was both frustrating and annoying, and we do ultimately like to think that the emotional resonance could have been better served for a resolution had it been presented early on in season 5.
On next week’s episode, another ghost for the more recent past is going to surface, with this time it being tied more to Laura Carmichael’s character of Edith. For some further information on the subject, take a look at the PBS synopsis below:
“A visit to Yew Tree Farm spells trouble for Edith, while wedding plans get a frosty reception. Mary keeps Anna’s secret and returns a favor, and Violet and Isobel lock horns over the hospital dilemma.”
While there are some important moments that take place in this episode for Edith and Anna in particular, we also feel like it is not until we get around to episode 3 that this story starts to really pick up and get going in a hugely dramatic way. This episode is mostly a building block to us, with one key exception that is going to become clear the moment that everyone starts to see it play out on the screen.
