‘Doctor Who’ season 10: Peter Capaldi hints that end is near

Doctor WhoWe certainly would understand if many fans of “Doctor Who” felt in a constant state of fear about a Doctor leaving, given that this does seem to happen after just a few seasons the majority of the time. (Or, in the case of Christopher Eccleston, only one.)

So are we that surprised that there are rumors cropping up now that season 10 could be the last for Peter Capaldi? Hardly. It even makes sense, when you think about him already having two seasons in the can, and one more to come starting next year.

Speaking per the Telegraph, the actor had the following to say in regards to his future:

“This could be my final year — it’s terrifying. I love ‘Doctor Who’ but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things.”

Personally, we’re fine with Capaldi staying however long he wants to, given that he has brought such an enthusiasm to the role. Not only that, but he also has given us really great episodes, and infused a new sort of energy into the part that really has not been there since we had Christopher Eccleston in the part so many years ago.

While there is a Christmas Special for “Doctor Who” airing in just a matter of days, season 10 will probably not start filming until around the spring. By that time, we should learn who is the new Companion, and they can be accustomed to the show in enough time to help potentially train a new Doctor if the need arises.
