‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Confirmation (finally) on Hades
It’s been far from a secret for quite some time that former “Ally McBeal” star Greg Germann was going to be coming to “Once Upon a Time” later this season in the role of “The Distinguished Gentleman.” It was also far from a secret that this role was probably code for Hades, the ruler of the Underworld and someone who could be a caretaker to some of the show’s most infamous villains. Given that both Hercules and Meg were already set to appear on the second half of the season, it makes a little bit of sense to throw him in there, as well.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Adam Horowitz makes it clear that there will be things about this version of Hades that make him rather different than the ones you have seen in other places … though there will be a little bit of a common ground at the same time:
“We’re going to be meeting the Once Upon a Time version of Hades in the second half of the season … While he is both inspired by a myth and by the Disney movie version, as we like to do, we’re trying to create our own Once Upon a Time spin. We can’t wait for everyone to see what [Germann] does with the character.”
Horowitz also made it clear that there would be some sort of connection between Hades and a character we already know on the show, but added that he will not be related to anyone (which is a pretty fair expectation given everything that the show has given us over time with some of their twists).
The show returns to ABC on March 6 with new episodes, but you can head over here right now to get some other news on the series! Also, sign up right away to secure some more updates on everything we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
