‘The Librarians,’ ‘Major Crimes,’ ‘Murder in the First’ officially renewed by TNT
While this news is something that many people may have saw coming, isn’t it nice to finally have it official? TNT has officially renewed both “Major Crimes,” “Murder in the First,” and “The Librarians” for another year on the air, which is great news that may help offset the fact that the network also canceled “Legends,” “Agent X,” and “Public Morals” earlier in the day.
The renewal for “Major Crimes” had more or less been announced already, and TVLine is reporting that despite what it said in an initial release, the fifth-season order is for 13 episodes rather than ten. This is the same order given to another long-running his on the network in “Rizzoli & Isles,” and it signals to us that the network is trying to do something a little bit different rather than trying to exhaust any one particular show. (Ironically, this is happening after “Major Crimes” season 4 is airing its longest season.)
As for “Murder in the First” and “The Librarians,” these are shows that are still finding their footing in many ways in terms of and audience, but they have a loyal group already watching and we have to hope that this will continue to expand in the years to come. TNT is a network still working on trying to innovative themselves; their transition is in some ways reminiscent of USA before they started to move away from quirky shows to ones more deeply rooted in drama like “Suits” and “Mr. Robot.”
We’ll have some more news very soon on these shows; stay tuned!
