‘Fargo’ season 3 will not air on FX until 2017
“Fargo” just wrapped up another critically-acclaimed season on Monday night, but let’s just hope that you are not feeling too impatient right now for what is coming up.
As we noted in an article yesterday, it was certainly feasible that the show may not premiere on FX with a third season until 2017, and this was confirmed by executive producer Noah Hawley in a conference call on Tuesday. What’s the primary reason for it? It mostly has to do with making sure that there is time for the scripts to be ready, and then also time to film the series in the manner in which it should be. Per Entertainment Weekly, he explains with the following:
“You won’t see it in 2016 … It’s a winter show, and we don’t have the time to film this winter.”
Hawley also made it clear that while it is possible that you will see or hear from season 1 characters in the new season (which will be set in 2010 and be the most contemporary story we have seen to date), it is unlikely that any of them would be focal points in the story. Why is that? Unlike other shows where people are solving horrific crimes every week, he recognizes that it would be unrealistic for so many people to have repeat harrowing experiences. (Granted, you could argue that a UFO showed up on the show last week, but still.)
Filming for season 2 will likely begin in November 2016, so it’s going to be some time before you start to hear anything about casting or what the specific story will be.
