‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 6B poster sets social media ablaze

If you were on Twitter earlier today and say #PLLPoster trending on social media, there was a pretty simple reason why: The sixth season of “Pretty Little Liars” has got people talking once again!

Probably the biggest surprise of this poster would be the daring fashion choices of many of these characters, who are not exactly dressed like they would be going to any ordinary funeral. Yet, this is clearly a move signifying the more adult direction of the series and some of the characters. Also, is Ashley Benson’s leg here front-and-center in a very Angelina Jolie at the Oscars sort of way?

Given that this is the second time we’ve see a coffin in promotional materials for the series “Five Years Forward” reboot (including the opening theme), it certainly appears clear to us that death is once again going to be center stage for the story. Also, Aria, Spencer, Hanna, Ali, and Emily are all going to be alive. (Granted, we wonder why this poster looks so high-quality while the opening theme comes across still as cheesy.)

The sixth season will return on Tuesday, January 12, and the day of the show ABC Family will be formally changing their name to Freeform. This is something that the network clearly references in the poster, knowing full well that the last thing that they want to do is confuse viewers who are associating the show with something in particular like the name of the network.
