‘Longmire’ season 5: The writing process begins!
It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve written any sort of “Longmire” update, but it’s admittedly been rather hard given the present situation. We know the series is coming back with another set of episodes, but filming is still many months away.
As a matter of fact, we’ve just gotten around to the point where scripts are being written again. In a post on Twitter, writer / co-producer Tony Tost revealed that the writers room for the upcoming season is open, and scripts are being at least thought out! The early stages of a lengthy process are beginning, and that is something worth celebrating.
What makes this even more exciting for any creative-types out there is that “Longmire” has put itself now in a position where they have to start to write themselves a challenging solution to what is a major problem for the Walt character: The events of the season 4 finale, which saw him attacked right in the middle of a romantic moment with Donna Sue Monahan. It’s possible that this event will tie back to other events of the season, but who knows? It could also open the door for a completely new story to take center stage for much of season 5. After all, when you’ve been a Sheriff for as long as Walt has, there are likely plenty of criminals who want you dead.
The new season will more than likely premiere in the fall of 2016, but as per usual we’ll have some further updates along the way! Stay tuned.
