Ratings: ‘The Flash,’ ‘iZombie,’ ‘Scream Queens’ all down; ‘Chicago Med,’ ‘Chicago Fire’ up
There were some very odd things that happened in the ratings for Tuesday night’s TV lineup, and rather than beat around the bush with it, we feel like it is best to go ahead and dive right in.
The winners – The great news is for the Chicago franchise over on NBC. “Chicago Med” (2.1) has pretty much earned itself a long-term future by posting ratings that are not that far off from what “Grey’s Anatomy” does, and “Chicago Fire” (2.0) is keeping most of that lead-in. Sure, you can credit “The Voice” for being a good lead-in, but the bombing of “Telenovela” earlier in the week proved that people won’t just watch anything because they are leaving their TV on after the singing competition.
Also, “The Muppets” (1.1) didn’t fall, so there’s that. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (2.3) fared decently on the night, but we don’t think that this is the same sort of cultural institution for CBS as it once was despite how many people in the “famous millennial” demographic the show decides to throw in there.
The losers – The big surprise to us was seeing “The Flash” fall all the way to a 1.2 despite what was a really good crossover last week, and the show airing a great episode in “Running to Stand Still” featuring the return of Mark Hamill as the Trickster. Hopefully it’ll adjust up in the finals. “iZombie” (0.5) and “Scream Queens” (0.9) also were down compared to their most-recent episodes, with the latter being especially surprising given that we’re talking about the season finale.
