Is a ‘Family Guy’ movie actually in the cards? Seth MacFarlane says so
It may a surprise to some of you out there that there is talk of a “Family Guy” movie, and we certainly understand why. After all, it was a surprise to us! This is to us the perfect idea of disposable television, something you put on when you are bored, and are entertained without too much effort. Going to a movie theater and actually paying money to see it is an entirely different story.
Seth MacFarlane responded to a post on Twitter asking about a movie earlier today, saying that there could be an announcement on a project “soon.” Granted, this word is “relative,” and “soon” in this instance may mean several years down the road for everyone else.
The challenge of doing a movie for this show is that you’ve already got your cast, crew, and animators working hard on new episodes of the show itself. You have to figure out a way to get everyone to either commit to something more, or sacrifice episodes of the show to work on a big-screen project.
As cynical as we may be about the prospect of something like this, it doesn’t change the simple fact that a movie, provided the budget was in the right spot, would be a big hit. Remember that “The Simpsons Movie” made over $175 million in America and over $500 million around the globe. Even if a “Family Guy” movie did half of that, Fox would probably still be happy.
So what do you think of the idea, and can you imagine any sort of characters or voice-actors who would be perfect in a feature film based on the show? Let us know with a comment!
