‘Major Crimes’ season 4, episode 15 review: Provenza and Patrice’s big moment
For a show that is often procedural, we should start this “Major Crimes” episode review by giving the show some credit: After all, there was a lot going on with this particular story tonight! You had the case of the week, which could have been rather dull; however, the writers found a way to draw some similarities between this man and Slider, which caused Rusty a little bit of grief.
Is Rusty getting too close to this man? We have a sinking suspicion that this will probably lead to some sort of disappointment down the road, especially given Slider’s connections to so many people that Rusty has tried to help. The biggest issue here is that we do not fully know whether or not Rusty is truly innocent, or if this is all going to be for naught beyond just being a teaching tool.
Some of the shows couples became one of the major themes tonight, given that Andy and Sharon made some progress together while he continued to recover in a surprisingly refreshing fashion. Isn’t it nice to not have a crime procedural where someone is off trying to get themselves killed while just coming out of surgery? Taking their time here enables more storytelling, and that is something that we will always applaud.
As for Andy spilling the beans about Provenza and Patrice? There was something oddly fun and endearing about this for some reason, and maybe it just has to do with our hope that Provenza does not add someone else to his list of ex-wives. You gotta believe that he can turn it around!
While we’re not going to say that this was the best episode of the show we’ve ever seen (other than the Slider stuff, the main case wasn’t that amazing), we at least give the show credit for drumming up enough personal stuff to get us excited. Grade: B.

I too thought the show was Excellant. Agree a bit more around Andy and Sharon from last week and building on the emotion would of been good, but I’m not complaining, loved what we got. I thought the case of the week was good, a lot to think about. Liked the mix of drama and humour, Andy spilling the beans so to speak. Looking forward to next week.

I thought the episode was excellent. Some of the scenes were heartwrenching— hearing how Kyle’s mom tried everything to find him and save him felt very real to me as a mom (I loved Sharon’s acknowledgment of that, too), and the scene between Sykes and the young prostitute, who didn’t know that he could be raped. I thought the parallels between Rusty and Kyle were drawn subtly, but clearly. So, I thought the crime of the week was excellent. I would have actually liked more Sharon and Andy. Not necessarily more time, but more building on last week. All of the heavy emotions of last week were never really acknowledged.

Normally I don’t agree with your grades. I think you are a tad tough. Unfortunately, I think you are spot on with this one. I found myself rather disappointed with the show last. I agree that too much wad stuffed into one show.
