Ratings: ‘Supergirl’ falls further; ‘Castle’ season 8, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ up

We really cannot sit here and write with confidence that the majority of the shows on primetime TV last night surged in the ratings … mostly because the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Heck, there should be an asterisk to go along with some of the shows we’re considering to be “winners” right now.

The winners – Sure, “Dancing with the Stars” (2.4) and “Castle” (1.5) both look extremely impressive on paper, but they were both preempted in ABC markets in Boston and Buffalo for the NFL game between the Bills and New England Patriots. In other words, expect a sizable adjustment down at the end, given that this game remained competitive for most of the night.

One sure-fire winner we can give you is “NCIS: Los Angeles” (1.2), which improved for what will be the first of a two-part installment.

The losers – “Supergirl” (1.5) continues to sink, and we’re already now at a level where we wish that the show would just be moved over to The CW in order to be a bigger part of that universe. It’s a shame that won’t happen at least for this season.

It was a pretty bad night as a whole for most shows, given that “Blindspot” (1.9) ended its fall run with a series low and both “The Voice” (2.6) and “Gotham” (1.4) also lost a little bit of steam. These shows will probably still be fine; an important thing to remember here is that during Thanksgiving week, the majority of the programming is going to fall as people pursue other things and prepare for either turkey day or Black Friday.
