‘Fargo’ season 3 official; FX wastes no time with renewal
It looks like FX is showing all of the confidence in the world in “Fargo.”
Today, the network announced that they are ordering a third season of the Noah Hawley drama, following what accounts to a critically-acclaimed start to the second season. There is already Emmy buzz aplenty surrounding the actors, and despite the fears by some that another “True Detective” situation was at hand, it appears as though there was really no reason to worry.
In a statement, Eric Schrier of FX had the following to say:
“Year two of Fargo is an extraordinary achievement and, given Noah Hawley’s masterful storytelling, we can’t wait to see where the third, all-new version of Fargo takes us … Our thanks to Noah, Warren, Joel & Ethan, John and our partners at MGM Television for making Fargo such a memorable and rewarding journey.”
Where will the show go next? What’s so interesting is that while Hawley may be somewhat beholden to a region, he does not have to stick to a time period. It’s possible that he goes back into the present and brings back season 1 characters, or that he dips even further into the past before the Solverson family was really a force to be reckoned with. We rather love the fact that there is such mystery surrounding where the show could be going moving forward. So long as the writing and the acting are great, there is really not too much at all to be upset about.
As for when season 3 could premiere, it’s far too early to speculate. We’re fine with waiting until early 2017, though, if this means giving the team time to craft the right story.
